What's In a Name
PatGriffith.com was already taken so I had to get creative. I like Destructive Tendencies but the domain Nazi's are holding it for ransom. The best part about making up stuff, like the names of aliens, is that I can find a cheap domain name. Eventually Elbie Free will be used as a counter website to the DPA but for now I will make it my home in cyberspace. Since it seems mandatory for writers to have a stake in the virtual ground that is the internet this is where I will be.
By day I work with some very nice people at a tech company, by night I create and destroy world's. Every spare thought is bent on imaginary people and places. Who are they, why do they do what they do? I must know. Other ways I entertain myself self include, but are not limited to: midnight showings, Doctor Who marathons, Transformer marathons, The Game of World Domination, walking, reading, amusement parks, museums, and world travel.
My current work in progress is science fiction but since not all of my stories involve alien invasions or gene manipulation. I think the label "Action/Adventure" is a better fit. Having said that, I am usually opposed to labels and rather not use them at all. What's a writer to do?
Getting back to the subject of naming things. The phrase Elbie Free is from my novel, Trespassing. Elbie are what people call this new form of energy that has appeared on Earth and requires a human host. If you are not a host to an Elbie, you are-- Elbie Free. To be Elbie Free is a disappointment to some and a relief to others. To read more about that you will have to wait for the book.
If you are feeling really adventurous, and don't mind a lot of ads, check out the very first website I ever made. I put it together in Dreamweaver class years ago. Down the rabbit hole. Thanks for stopping by!

I spent my childhood playing Super Friends at recess and Star Wars after school. I wrote my first adventure story in sixth grade (lots of dinosaurs) and haven’t stopped yet.
I currently live and breathe in San Francisco where I graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Creative Writing. |
